Logarithms

A logarithm is a way of expressing how many times you need to multiply a certain number (called the base) to get another number.

Think of it like counting how many times you need to double a number to get another number. For example, if you have 1 penny and double it every day, it will take you 10 days to get to $1.00 because 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 1024 cents. In this case, the logarithm base 2 of 1024 is 10, because 2 to the 10th power is 1024.

So, logarithms help us find out how many times we need to multiply a certain number to get another number. It's like solving a puzzle, where the answer tells us how many times we need to double the number to get to the final number.
