Scientific Notation

Published on

Scientific notation is a way to write very large or very small numbers in a simpler and more compact form.

For example, the number 100,000 can be written as 1 x 10^5 in scientific notation. The "1" is called the coefficient, and the "10^5" is called the power of 10.

In scientific notation, any number can be written as a number between 1 and 10, multiplied by a power of 10. This helps make very large or very small numbers easier to understand and work with.

For example, the distance from the Earth to the sun is 93 million miles, which can be written in scientific notation as 9.3 x 10^7.

Scientific notation is used in many different fields, including physics, chemistry, and biology, to help simplify and communicate complex numbers.
